From Last To First: My 2010 Fantasy Baseball Season Begins

Last night I participated in the annual tradition of drafting the 2010 edition of my fantasy baseball team. I been in the same league with the same bunch of guys for about ten seasons. This is a third year of holding a "live" draft as opposed to an automated online selection. It's way more fun getting together in person, haggling over players and having a lot of fun in the process. I had the first selection as a reward for coming in dead last last year. In the spirit of having some fun and hopefully doing better in the standings, I am posting my draft results for all of you to see.

The rules of our league allow you to keep three players from last year's roster; two position players and a pitcher. My "keepers" are: Chase Utley, Matt Holliday and Chris Carpenter. Below is the rest of my 2010 selections:

C- Yadier Molina
1B -Justin Morneau
2B - Chase Utley
SS - Stephen Drew
3B - David Wright
OF - Matt Holliday
OF - Shane Victorino
OF - Shin-Soo Choo
UTL - Juan Pierre
Bench - Jorge Cantu (1B/3B)
Bench - Lastings Milledge (OF)
Bench - Adam LaRouche (1B)
Bench - J.J. Hardy (SS)
Bench - Kelly Johnson (2B)
Bench - Matt Diaz (OF)
Bench - Jeff Francoeur (OF)

SP - Chris Carpenter
SP - Johan Santana
SP - Javier Vasquez
SP - Cole Hamels
SP - Clayton Kershaw
SP - Rich Harden
SP - John Maine

As you can see, I have no relief pitchers or closers on my team. I'll be looking to make some trades to fix that before the season begins. We'll see what I can get for some of my bench payers.

Throughout the season, I plan on posting updates regarding my progress, any blockbuster trades I make and hopefully improving on my pathetic showing in the 2009 campaign. Time will tell however. I invite all the baseball fans out there to offer their perspective on my roster. Do you think I have a chance? Let me know.
